
The rise of repressive forces in Argentina's hegemonic bloc under Javier Milei's government (2023-2027) reveals a replication of the “democratic security” policy, in a context of military cooperation agreements with the United States, most recently reflected in the signing of the 2011 Anti-Terrorism Bill. This brief overview of what has been termed “new fascism” has implications for the social sciences, for the role of training researchers, who intervene in the course of political events, and for policy public advice in Latin American states, by expanding the formulas known in the Colombian hegemonic bloc (2002-2022), with disastrous results in terms of free thought and the deployment of the state's repressive apparatus.
